Principles of United We Stand
Preamble
United We Stand is an association of martial arts schools dedicated to the ideals of harmony, respect, and friendship.
Member schools are commited to the free exchange of techniques and ideas between styles, to the promotion of the martial arts in the community, and to involvement
in our communities through charitable support and eductation.
Section 1
The UWS member schools pledge themselves to oppose violence. We teach our students to practice forbearance, to seek a peacable
solution in conflicts, and to use the least force needed in self defense. Our ideal is to live in harmony with all around us.
Section 2
The UWS member schools pledge themselves to oppose all forms of harassment. We will not tolerate abuses, of position or
skill in acts of predjudice, bullying, or sexual violence. We will teach our students their rights as a person and to respect
that right in others. We will make sure all students know how to make their concerns known and that their concerns will be
responded to. We will insist in the highest degree of propriety and professional conduct from all instructional staff. Our ideal it to live with respect for all around us.
Section 3
The UWS member schools pledge themselves to the acceptance of other styles and schools. We will teach our students to consider
other realms of thought in the martial arts. We will encourage them to work with and learn from other member schools whenever possible. We will not permit our students or staff to denigrate or put down other fighting
systems. Our ideal is to live with friendship for all around us
