At the Kwoon Karate Academy of Self Defense, students study the art of Ko-koro Kempo. The studio is a family oriented environment. Thousands of years ago, feuding
Chinese warlords taught Mercenaries the Art of War. Victory meant the toppling of dynasties and the establishment of new rulership.
This was sufficient reason to refine skills in offensive and defensive individual combat, as well as complex military
strategies and maneuvers. Training involved both the use of weapons availible at that and empty handed combat. Wushu, Kempo,
and other Martial Arts are all means of fighting arts.
There are about 300 different systems of Wushu. The most respected and
feared of the Kempo systems was taught by the Shaolin Priests. The students of the Shaolin were allowed to participate in
the annual competitions and were regularly victorious over other stylists.
- Kempo is an art of self preservation.
- Kempo must lead to the preservation of the human life, not the taking
of life.
- Kempo is an Art that consists of Wa (peace), not in defeating the enemy.
